Command+Delete Stopped Working

I've been using command+delete on my MacBook Pro all the time. It worked fine yesterday. Today it has mysteriously stopped working. I can't delete a file from Finder with the shortcut and I can't delete from the desktop either. I haven't tried in other apps or situations. Ah, I just realized another way it doesn't work. Delete alone is like backspace, but command+delete should function like a normal delete key with text like this message. Command+delete is not working in this scenario either, I only get backspace.

I have tried reseting the keyboard shortcuts in the Keyboard section of System Preferences. I even tried making a new command+delete shortcut but it wouldn't let me. When I look under the File menu in Finder there is no longer a shortcut indicated next to Move to Trash.

Delete still works. Command still works with other shortcuts. Any ideas what I might have done to break this shortcut? Or other ideas about what I can do to reset it?

Thanks for the help.

Okay, I just discovered something else that's interesting. Using the keyboard viewer I discovered that my delete key is now a backspace key and if I hold down the "fn" button it becomes a delete key (forward erase) again. Sure enough if I use the combination fn+delete it works as the shortcut to move a file to the trash.

I'm glad I figured this out, but can anyone tell me how the heck I changed this shortcut or how to change it back?

Even more mystery, I noticed that several bookmarks are missing from Safari. Also, when I logged into gmail this morning Safari tried to use a keychain to automatically enter my password. Strange because I never set it up to do that.

The only thing I can think of that may have triggered this is that yesterday morning while typing in some flash cards I was trying to use the shortcut to enter the section sign, which looks like this §. I thought I remembered the shortcut, (command+option+6) but it didn't work and I tried a few variations of command, option, control and various number keys.

Could I have somehow hit some combination of keys that precipitated all these changes? I wouldn't have thought that would be possible. Interestingly I still can't use the shortcut for the section sign. I can see it on the keyboard viewer, it shows up when I hit command+option, but then when I try to use it nothing happens. Just more mystery. I'm hoping that I don't find more problems as time goes on...

Hello,

Same problem here on Imac and Macbook pro. I have also solved it by using "FN+backspace" but this change is very strange. I have noticed that the problem has come after the last update of "Xtrafinder". Are you using it too ? It could be an explanation for the bug...

EDIT

I have relaunched the finder in order to deactivate Xtrafinder and CMD+Backspace is working again !! When launching Xtrafinder again that stop working. So that's sure 100% the source of the bug...
