Creating a new user profile is better for FCPX?

Hello,

I have a Imac, and some time is a little be slow. I have 3T hard drive for my FCPX projects and I have clean my mac software too... but still some time is a little be slow. A friend told me that I have to "create a new user profile and use it specially for FCPX... In that new profile it will work faster..."

What you think? Is it a good idea? Does some one ever try this?

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

I have clean my mac software too...

Unfortunately this is the problem, most users who have have installed this menace have found the mac slows down considerably. Search the iMac forum for clean my Mac for this evidence.

The single most important thing to realise is that this software has no functional purpose at all. All the maintenance your Mac requires is performed by Mac OS X, and not any other piece of software.

What you should do is remove this software immediately:

Quit MacKeeper if it is running

Navigate to the applications folder (Go>Applications)

Drag it to the Trash

Enter your login password when prompted

Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears

Restart the Mac then empty the Trash

Do not move the Mackeeper icon from the Doc

Allow all the Mackeeper components to be deleted before emptying the trash

Do not install so called "maintenance" "cleaning" or "repair" software again

Keep Mac OS X software up to date by accepting updates from Apple

Click the Uninstall MacKeeper

I'm a little be confused here. I dont use this "Mackeeper" software (http://mackeeper.com)... I use a software called Clean my mac 2 (http://macpaw.com). Is that the same thing? Because from what I know, Mackeeper is kind of malware software...

I deleted Clean my mac 2 any way, but since I did it, I didn't see any improvement... and my Mac OS X is update. So my question today remain on this "Clean my mac 2" software. Do I have to got it back or is better to live it away of my computer?

Thank you for your patience and your help.

One of the best things you can do to prevent slowdowns and other problems is to keep plenty of free space on your boot drive.

Never let it get more than 80% full and ideally keep it as empty as possible.

All your big video files and Libraries etc. should be kept on another hard drive.

If troubles persist or you have been using the Mac for a long time you may be suffering from badly fragmented files, even though Apple claims the OS is supposed to reduce this problem.

If this is the case the best thing to do is backup everything on another hard drive, completely erase your Mac and reinstall the OS and apps etc..
