Q: 27 Inch iMac doesn't mirror to AppleTV - but iTunes does using Airplay
I was having a heck of a time trying to get mirroring to work from my 27 inch iMac OS10.9.x to AppleTV. iTunes would send video to AppleTV using Airplay but selecting mirroring did not work even though AppleTV was selectable from the iMac display preferences. .
Solved:
After spending hours and several days on the phone with Apple Support who were very persistent in getting to the bottom of this, and having the Apple Engineering staff involved it was determined that I had some 3rd party drivers installed. My system setup was done through Migration Assistant to get this new iMac setup using stuff from my old iMac.
Uninstalling AirParrott didn't help. It turns out SplashTop desktop drivers were the problem. I had did an uninstall of SplashTop but that did not delete the drivers, probably because of the Migrated system? Running some tests Apple advisor was able to determine com.splashtop.driver.SRXDisplayCard and com.splashtop.driver.SRXFrameBufferConnector drivers were still loading at startup. An initial search of the /System/Library/Extensions directory did not show these files because they are named " SRXDisplayCard " and " SRXFrameBufferConnector " . Moving these files to the Trash Can and Restarting my iMac and voila I now have mirroring to my AppleTV. Note that there is another place to look for SRFrameBufferConnection.framework which is a file used in my installation of Splash Desktop. You can find it at and move /System//Library/Frameworks to the trash.
So if you had SplashTop (mine was a 2012 version) on your iMac and can't display using mirroring to AppleTV try the above.
