Over the weekend I bought The Sims2 from the app store. It began to download OK then was interrupted. When I log back into the app store it appears by either saying 'waiting' with the Yosemite beta also doing the same. Or the list appears without the Yosemite and says resume next to the sims but the resume button does not work.

I have a similar problem but with an app called Sketch. Followed instructions to go to Purchased and click resume and all I see is the following clipped image. Funny thing is mine says there was an error and the button has no text at all.
Your profile is showing a version of OS X that won'r even run on the Mac that you say you have!
So if you're running OS X Lion 10.7 or above, go to Launchpad and click & hold any icon until they all start jiggling and an X appears on the icon. Click the X on the paused app icon and delete the partial download. Then go to the Mac App Store/Purchases and try again.
That doesn't make sense Dah veed. That is a screen shot of 'about this mac' so it must be a MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2013) running yosemite 10.10.01????
