iTunes store not loading under older version of program

I still use iTunes 11.0.0.5 on my computer (PC, Windows 7)--all of the versions since have, I found, made it very difficult to use podcasts, frequently downloading older episodes I've already listened to and deleted. In the last couple of months, the program has ceased letting me connect to the iTunes Store--when I click on it, I just get a blank screen: http://imgur.com/dx9vnMh

Is there any way around this, or am I condemned to choose between an unborked podcast system and use of the store?

Thanks for the suggestion, Jason--unfortunately, it's not helping. I ran the autoruns program and my only winsock providers are Bonjour and MS's Windows Live ID Namespace Providers.

I tried resetting the store cache in iTunes and resetting the winsock protocol via the command prompt (netsh winsock reset), neither of which has had any effect.
