Does anyone have detailed information about the Sound Card used in the Mac Pro Late 2013 or where I can find these?
Is this sound card capable of outputting a digital signal capable of professional audio processing? I'd like to connect it straight to a high end external DAC.

The sound is on the logic board. There is no Sound Card. You can add a DAC by using a USB output or the optical toslink output. Higher performance would be available from the USB output.
Maybe that is why Apple Support Techs couldn't help me today. I was jut looking for the SNR Ratio and DR specs and no one could find them. They have the audio specs listed for Mac Book Pro but not the Mac Pro.

You don't want to use the analog audio output. By using USB or the optical out, you will be bypassing the analog section. It will be digital to digital. By using USB you will also be bypassing the Mac's built-in DAC.
Ya I wasn't interested in the analog audio ouput, just the digital. Ended up going with a Dangerous Source for the DAC with USB connection.
I'm currently using a Meridian Explorer. It works quite well for me with my Audio Engine A5+ active speakers.
