Trying to output to a Samsung 40" LCD TV correctly.

Problem:
I have hooked my macbook up to my Sony 40" LCD TV model LN-S4041D via an apple (Mini-DVI to DVI adapter) and then a (DVI to HDMI cable). My TV does not have a DVI input just HDMI and all of the other analog inputs. When I hook it up my i get an output on the screen but it is not mapping pixel by pixel to the TV's exact resolution. This is causing there to be a black bar all the way around about 2" wide (top, bottom, left and right). The tv's native resolution PC is (1360x768). Is there any way I can get the macbook to output this correctly. I have tried using DisplayConfigX and creating a custom resolution and when I try using that resolution my TV doesn't work at all. It can't find an appropriate signal from the macbook. I am building a Home Theatre PC and am planning on using a mac-mini or ITV when it is released but I would like to use my macbook in the meantime. Please Help!!!!

Intel MacBook (Black), Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You should also consider posting your question to the AVS Forum (avsforum.com). You will likely find more people over there with info about this TV, even though they may own PCs and not Macs. The important thing to find out is if anyone, using any computer, has been able to get bit-for-bit working with that Sony. A lot of Sony LCD TVs have video processors that interfere with the ability of a computer to display on the TV at native resolution. Hopefully you won't encounter that.
