Aug 1, 2015 5:56 AM in response to Rift_Maze_Feeby PaulBKK19,I also had a similar problem as well ..
The first was a month ago, when I just got my Macbook Pro 15" (Late 2011) back from repair & change of HardDisk. However, somehow I could not connect to the wi-fi at my house at all. After sometime, I decided to re-install OS X Yosemite & time machine everything afterwards to a previous date before I send my Macbook for repair. As a result, everything was ok.
Recently (today) August 01, 2015, in some oddly fashionably manner the "wi-fi signal just dissapear" only an "X" was in it saying "no wi-fi hardware installed." To me that is not possible because everything was just fine before, I decided to recover everything again restarting my Macbook & by pressing Cmd+R or something do not remember until the Apple logo appears. It enter the menu screen to select recovery from time machine on an external hard disk & etc.
However, I did not want to recover anything this time because the problem did not make much sense for me to recover so, I quit the menu & just went to restart the computer as usual. At the same time use my other computer (Windows) & search for a way to fix the problem.
After I decided to just restart my Macbook without recovering anything this time, to my amusement somehow the "wi-fi signal" came back & everything was back to normal again.
I wish there is a certain way to know what really happened & how to properly fix it, as for now I am ok & everything is fine (I hope)

Aug 1, 2015 7:38 PM in response to PaulBKK19by PaulBKK19,An update towards the Wi-Fi No Hardware Installed ..
As mentioned yesterday my Macbook Pro 15" (Late 2011) is currently running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.4. After fixing the issue by accident yesterday, today I woke up & started to turn on my computer after a very short while the same problem occur again. Here is what I did to solver the problem saw it on a topic posted previously on October 30, 2014:
1. Turn off the Macbook
2. Place 3 left hand fingers on "R, Option & Cmd"
3. Place one right hand finger on "P"
4. Press "the power switch" (don't press the other buttons yet) & let the power switch go.
5. Quickly press & hold all except the power until you hear three tones.
Macbook should start up with wi-fi on.
However, for me this time it took a few times to get the wi-fi back on normally. Not so sure what is causing the problem at all this time around & hope someone could give me an answer.

Aug 4, 2015 9:12 AM in response to PaulBKK19by Solsort,Thanks, this worked for me.
First I deleted the blue-tooth file from preferences, as suggested in an earlier post, that made the change from having a small x and the text no hardware installed in the top bar to having an empty triangle logo with no text, but I could still not turn wi fi on.
Then I did as you said, I was not sure what the option key was, goggled my way to the alt key ;-)
I held all the keys down (R, Alt, Cmd and P) when pressing the startup and just kept them down till I had heard the start-up sound 3 times.
Now I'm writing this on the computer, you made my day, thanks.

Aug 4, 2015 5:44 PM in response to Solsortby PaulBKK19,I am glad that you have solve your problem, congrats!!
Actually, there is another way .., but I guess it does depends on our Airport Card/Bluetooth MacBook Pro & Macbook.(Not sure does it apply to all Mac users or not.)
My previous post towards this problem was alright, but I found out just by shutting down the Macbook & turning it on again also solves the problem.
However, I don't like to shut down & turn on the Macbook often. Instead, I prefer to let it sleep, but recently sometime in sleep mode (depending on how long it has been sleeping) the "Wi-Fi No Hardware Installed" would occur again.
As a solution, for example: when I am going to bed (not use my computer anymore) I would simply hover the mouse cursor on to the Wi-Fi status above & hit "Turn Wi-Fi Off." The next morning when I want to use my computer again I just "Turn Wi-Fi On" & everything works fine without no shutting down, turning on or restarting my Macbook.
Currently, this method seems to work really well.
Nonetheless, I think in the long run I would have to replace the "Airport Card/Bluethooth" for my Macbook because it could have start to deteriorate since my Macbook is a 2011 Late Model. Another way is I could just get a "Wireless USB Adapter" instead.

Aug 18, 2015 2:24 PM in response to Rift_Maze_Feeby davehill99,This has worked for a lot of people so far.
I first experienced this problem with Mavericks, but also happened with Yosemite.
This should help you fix it.

Aug 20, 2015 8:35 AM in response to davehill99by rejindia,Hi, I had the same problem.
What worked for me is,
1) deleted wifi from the system preferences/network.
2) If you cannot create wifi again, connect to an ethernet, now the option appears.
3) create wifi again.
4)restart ur computer
its worked for me.

Sep 3, 2015 1:41 PM in response to Rift_Maze_Feeby JO_SUTTI,Apple really need to pull them self together!!!!! what a endless bugs
After long troubleshooting, finally I have come with the real solution!
I have tried all of the suggestion, such as:
-Reset PRAM.
-Rest SMC.
-Delete all the network file in Preference folder.-Opened up and check all the connection was in the right place.
-Restart the machine.
NOTHING WORKS!
But then I had a external drive that i have installed Yosemite on it (Incase anything goes wrong, then i can alway use it as a life saver)
I boot the OS from the drive, then TADA! the WiFi worked fine!!I immediately switch to my girlfriends Macbook air and went ahead and download Yosemite install file. Then copy it to my machine and install(update) it again. (don't worry, your old data will not be delete)
After the installation was done, BINGO!! WIFI came back to life!!
Main reason that curse the problem.
1. Bugs
2. Apple doesn't give a <S.H.I.T.E > about it.
Solution.
- Install the update(Yosemite) again.

Sep 11, 2015 5:48 PM in response to Chris Knauerby obiwanterp,Thanks! This worked like a charm for me. I was having trouble getting my wife's iMac (21", i5, 8GB, Yosemite 10.10.2) working and tried about a dozen different things before stumbling across this fix. NVRAM, SMC, Safe Mode, turning off BT keyboard/trackpad...none of that worked. Removing this tiny file tucked away in the preferences did the trick though!
Thanks!

Sep 22, 2015 6:32 AM in response to obiwanterpby alexanderfromsertãozinho,Hi everybody! After a many tests (I changed the airport board, airport cable and wifi antenna, SMC and PRAM reset, bluetooh turn on/off and restart) and nothing worked!!! The last cause that I think is the mainboard problem! Ok, before to change the mainboard I try downgrade OSX to Mavericks a usb boot in a fresh install and..... Voilà de the wifi back before the installation!!!! In the initial Mavericks screen installation (usb mavericks boot+option hold and power). I finished the installation and the wifi works perfectly!!! The problem is the Yoshemite incompability with A1304!!!!!!!

Oct 11, 2015 9:06 PM in response to Rift_Maze_Feeby AndrewGRB,Hi all,
had absolutely the same issue with wifi - hardware not found.
Tried all possible solutions: Reset the NVRAM and Reset the System Management Controller.
But finally helped only solutions with "face OS X restore":
1) Restart, boot into recovery mode with holding Cmd + R after restart and until Apple logo appear;
2) Select Recover OS X (or reinstall OS X or something like this) - this will fail as there is no connection to Inet;
3) Restart
After that combination - I surprisingly found out that WiFi has came back to life! )
Actually - this scenario helped me from second or even 3rd try, so don't give up!! )
