Extensis Suitcase X1 won't retain product key on Macpro 10.4.7

this is wierd, I just rolled out 2 brand new Macpro's, one that was used to create a carbon copy image, and a second mac where the destination image was cloned to. All programs work fine, CS, CS2, Flight Check, Office 04, Entourage on the second mac.

Except... on the following user accounts created on the second mac (admin, AD user, domain admin user) Extensis suitcase asks for its product key every time you launch. I've tried the following.

Entering in product key
Repaired permissions
Removed, restarted, re-installed Suitcase X1

It seems as though there may be a file somewhere that suitcase needs to write the product key info. Any help would be great.

Macpro, Mac OS X (10.4.7), 3gb rm, Intel dual core

Hello dXenon,

I'm admin'ing 150 macs all running Suitcase and I must say... I'm over it...

Suitcase has given me more headaches and crashes and lockups than any other app and I'm now putting fonts into /Library/Fonts and turning Suitcase OFF.

And never user Auto Activation unless you are very sure where your fonts are, AND that your users know what they are doing - good luck there ...

The Linotype app has been checked and looks good but if you're only working with a few fonts then use the system and FontBook.

This really burns... Extensis won't even touch this with out moving to fusion.

From Extensis tech sup.

"We do not support Suitcase X1 on Intel hardware, if you want to use Suitcase on your new Mac Pro, you will want to upgrade to Suitcase Fusion which is fully tested and supported on Apple's new machines. You can get a free trial from our website and if you like it you can make the purchase electronically - as a registered user of a previous version you would get the upgrade price of $49.95."

Kind regards,

Thank you all for replying with some nice suggestions, as you can see I have two options, upgrade or continue to try wedging it in. I'm going to give your suggestions a few tries before I say Die.

Thank You.

Sorry about that, dXenon. Didn't notice you were working off of a Mac Pro. Since Classic is out on that computer, then needing to have X1 isn't a necessity, as Fusion eliminated the ability to open fonts for OS 9 anyway.

I can see where Extensis (or any other company) wouldn't want to support software that isn't designed at all for the new hardware, but still.

Wish I had a better suggestion, but can't think of one for Suitcase X1.
