When you put the phone in Airplane mode, it turns off all of the transceivers, including GPS. You don't necessarily have to have the phone connected to a cellular account for GPS to work, though many nav apps download maps on the fly so that, without a data connection, they can't download maps.

Dec 17, 2014 4:54 PM in response to Meg St._Clairby yaser.alharbi, thanks, so if I use my iPhone 6 for navigation and there is no sim card ( but I already downloaded the Sygic app and its maps ) it will work 100% no need for sim card to be insert or data plane ?
thanks a lot

Dec 17, 2014 4:56 PM in response to yaser.alharbiby Meg St._Clair,I'm not familiar with that app. If it lets you download all the maps in advance to the phone, it should work. If it doesn't, it won't. Contact the developer.
Best of luck.
