Dec 18, 2014 12:33 AM in response to wtfspmfby Loner T,From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions - Apple Support
Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 5.1?
Boot Camp 5.1 supports 64-bit, non-Enterprise versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1. This version of Boot Camp doesn't support Windows XP, Windows Vista, or any 32-bit version of Windows. Depending on your Mac, you may be able to use an earlier version of Boot Camp to work with other versions of Windows. For details, see the Boot Camp system requirements for Microsoft Windows.

Dec 20, 2014 9:04 AM in response to wtfspmfby Loner T,OEM versions create problems. You can try with a trial version of W8 or W10, and test if BCA will recognize and use the ISO. You should also look in Console logs for any errors from Bootcamp Assistant.

Dec 20, 2014 5:30 PM in response to wtfspmfby Loner T,The BC drivers for the iMac5K are ONLY available via BCA and are version 5.1.5766. The BCA has become much more stringent in its checking of usable Windows Media.

Dec 20, 2014 9:02 PM in response to Loner Tby wtfspmf,From what I can tell, there is nothing wrong or illegal about using OEM versions. Just no support and not transferable to another motherboard or machine. Windows is so overpriced it's rediculous. So I should try a full retail version? Windows 7 or 8? I am using 7 and it is acceptable. I hear a lot of complaints about windows 8. So what is the deal? Do I have to use bootcamp to install windows? I can't believe I'm the first one to run in to this issue.

Dec 20, 2014 9:10 PM in response to wtfspmfby Loner T,Try W8+ (it has better EFI support), and it is possible to install Windows without using the BCA and it's partitioning, using a method called EFI boot, since the iMac5K is UEFI compliant. You should first clean up and delete the BC partition via 'Remove Windows' option before you try the EFI method.
