Unable to drive a PIXMA MG4250 printer with a PowsrPC Mac

The PIXMA printer needs an Intel Mac but I only have a PowerPC Mac so I would like information on a suitable driver for this printer. At present I am trying to use a Gutenprint v5.1.3 driver which doesn't connect with the printer although the driver seems to run on the PowerPC. Can anyone help?

G4 AGP 1.8GHz with ATI Radeon 9000 Pro graphics card, Mac OS X (10.5.7), Internal Matshita PD-2 burner, external 200 Gb and 500Gb drive,

Upgrading to 10.5.8 should seriously be considered, unless you know something is not compatible with 10.5.8.

If you go to the Cannon support and driver site and search for a PIXMA MG 4220 (can't find a 4250 listed), they show software going back to OS 10.1 and farther:

BE sure of your printer model. When I search their site for PIXMA MG4250 it only returns a PIXMA MG4220
