Q: Boot camp v2 to v4 driver upgrade? Win7 Ult 32

All,

Short end of the story... 2009 MacBookPro 15 bought as a Windows machine installed Vista Ultimate 32 on it. Needed more space and wanted to get out of Vista so I upgraded the hard drive with a 480G SSD from OWC and win cloned and Windows backup system for dual backup. Was able to put the new partition together and so forth. Windows 7 has been working pretty good for the last 2 months till this morning when...

ESET device driver BSOD. They suggested updating the device drivers. I am a hardware/software engineer so I keep a pretty well maintained system. While everything looks fine I noticed I have BC v2 drivers (from an installation point of view). I tried updating this with V4 but the scripts are not compatible so it won't work. Tried 3.1 as well but it requires 3.0 which is not in the download list.

If I boot to OSX 10.6.8 it cannot find the latest drivers and therefore I am stuck.

Any idea how to get out of this hole?

You have references to Vista Ultimate 32 and W7 both, which is a bit confusing. Which Windows version are you running into an issue with?

LT,

As it states above it was originally Vista Ultimate and then after the upgrade Win7 Ultimate.

It's not a OS issue, it's an Apple issue. Since the original computer was done on BC2, none of the newer versions seem to allow me to upgrade the drivers. V4 does not like the scripts of v2 and V3.1 will not install unless I have v3.

If I may suggest, and you are familiar with Winclone based on your other post, take a winclone image, and strip it with SysPrep as indicated in https://twocanoes.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202814148-Migrating-a-Boot-Camp- Partition-with-Winclone-4. You are pretending to migrate to another Mac. SysPrep will remove v2 drivers.

Once you have the generalised version of Windows, restore it back to the same machine, and now install appropriate v4 drivers.

Thanks, I went and did it the hard way and just updated all the drivers by hand. Everything seems to be working now. Really have too much development to be spending hours on this right now. CES is around the corner.

Yes I am Gordon from Wavelength Audio. I did that amp a long time ago. Working on a really cool guitar amp today and some work on a new Audio USB controller that I helped develop.
