How to delete app that doesn't show on screen?

I downloaded an app and it won't even show. I tried opening it from the App Store, but that doesn't work. It's clear that this app won't be working for me, but the problem is is that I can't delete it. I tried connecting my Iphone to my laptop to see if I could do it from Itunes, but it doesn't show there, either. I synced it to see if that would do anything- nope.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Settings app > General > Usage > Manage Storage [under STORAGE] > locate the app on the list and tap it, then tap Delete App.

Before doing that however, try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset. This might set the app straight and make it usable.
