Q: Suddenly can no longer access iTunes Store!

Running Windows XP & using iTunes version 11.0.1.12. Whenever I try to access iTunes Store, I get a message to say that "iTunes has encountered a problem & needs to close" The error message is extremely long & technical!!! Could it be anything to do with IE8 no longer being supported by XP? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I haven't a clue why this is suddenly happening.

null, Windows XP

    Greetings Henry_dog1969,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like iTunes is displaying an error message or crash log when you try to access the iTunes Store. It is hard to know why such errors might happen, and you can use the method explained in this article to troubleshoot your iTunes installation to get the program working normally again:

Hi, not sure if this will help, but I had a problem with iTunes search box not working. Despite a lot of advice from apple support and re-installing 3 times an answer could not be found. Purely by accident I later discovered a program installed on my PC called 'Search Protect' by Conduit. After researching the web I found that it is a third party program to stop other programs changing a home page. I don't know where it came from or to what program it is attached. It is however known to harbour malware. After deleting it iTunes is now working perfectly again. I am not suggesting this will resolve your issue, but could be worth investigating.
