Kernel panic with Macbook Pro Retina (15 inch, Mavericks 10.9.5)

Hi there!

I've got a slight problem. I experienced 2 kernel panics in the last three days with my now 1 1/2 months old Macbook Pro. I experienced the first one while retrieving data from an old external HDD, which I had almost forgotten about, but still had some music on, which I wanted to retrieve. The thing didn't sound too well, so I wanted to make it as quick as possible. Unfortunately, I got a kernel error before I could retrieve all the data, so I just ejected it within Finder and unplugged the cable. After a day of no issues at all, I experienced another Kernel crash today, when I was working in Logic Pro X.

There are no details available for either kernel panic once I click on "[Details]".

I have 5 USB devices connected. An active USB hub (with an external electricity plug, which is plugged in), which connects to a micro-usb (for my smartphone), a midi controller and my external HDD (Western Digital 3.0) on the left and my external audio interface on the right.

After I ran Etre Check, somebody gave me the tip to run disk utility via recovery mode and validate my internal drive. When I did this, the screen changed to "Internet Recovery", which took for ******* ever and drove my CPU temperature to around 80 degrees celsius without the fans kicking in (they work, tho. As soon as I run geekbench 3 for example, the fans will correspond as soon as the temperature gets to high).

One little thing in the end: I use TG Pro to check on my temperatures. When I boot, the CPU temperatures will be around 60 degrees upon startup and then drop rapidly to around 35-40. However, since I ran Internet Recovery and the temperature climbed to 80 degrees (like an hour ago), the temperature will decrease to 45-50 at first and then drop to 35 around a minute or two later. I don't remember that being the case before (although I'm aware that it is no biggie, especially since I have Spotify and Safari open on start-up and therefore 45 should be within tolerable ranges).

Okay. I'm very sorry I'm bombarding you with this much information, but I'd like to know if you may help me out on this one. Should I go see my genius bar about it (I live in Berlin and they are - quite frankly - dicks, so I'd rather avoid that if I could) or should I just keep an eye open for another kernel panic to take place?

Remove "Audio Recorder" and see whether there's an improvement.

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.

Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.

I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.

Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.

Back up all data before making any changes.

You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.

If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.

Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.
