When did this expire?

I should have been notified of this hardware fault and fix, especially considering I had extended Applecare. This was expensive top of the range Jan 2011 when I purchased.

Macbook Pro 15" mid 2010, 2.66 Ghz i7, 8gb ram, 500 GB 7200rpm HD, Hi rez 1680x1050 matte screen.

    This!

I was refused service two months ago!

Reasons being my macbook was older than 3 years (way to treat early adapters who buy top of the line computers from you) and because I am not the original buyer, how does that even matter? The issue only became apparent after I installed Yosemite, upgrading from Snow Leopard.

    Bad Apple!!

Yes - I think this started happening on my computer once I installed Yosemite.

Interesting the replacement program closed right about that time as well.

Now that I'm researching this, I discover this expired program - of which I had no idea about. Looks like I'm out of luck.

I just found I have the same problem, and yes, it was fine before Yosemite.  The "recall"  has expired but I was told by my local Mac folks (not the Apple Store) that there is still a program that would give me a new motherboard for $360.  Supposedly they'll fix  anything else they find as well.  I just have to drop my MBP at the shop so they can run a test.  If the MBP fails it qualifies for the fix.  It's not the answer I'd like but it could be worse.  Personally I was already planning to upgrade this year so probably won't spend the money.  If it gets too bad I'll go back to Mavericks for awhile.
