Q: isight camera is not recognized

I am working on my grandmother's imac. It is an iMac5,1. When I left last christmas i had updated the software to 10.6.8 and downloaded Facetime and had facetime working properly. Now facetime and ichat say there is no camera connected. I researched this forum and tried everything i have seen. I folled the steps on here How to Troubleshoot iSight - Apple Support ... I found that i did not see the isight camera detected under USB High-Speed Bus. Just wondering if anyone could help me out.

If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing. Use 2nd link if not near an Apple Store or aren’t in the US. Hardware Repair - Keeping Confidential Data Safe

Yes. Apple Support or an Apple Authorized Service Provider can.

Having tried everything else from How to Troubleshoot iSight without success, GMa's Mac's failure to recognize the iSight as a USB device most likely means a hardware failure. There are no user serviceable parts of the camera.
