How to store phone contacts to phone as well as sim

Hi. Just bought an iPhone 6 and need to make sure my contacts( phone numbers) are stored to my current phone(an iPhone 4s) not just to the SIM before activating my new SIM.

Appreciate any help.

The iPhone will not store contacts to a SIM. It will import contacts from a SIM from another phone (as long as it was not an iPhone). More details on this at iPhone: Understanding SIM cards - Apple Support
