Q: airplay icon has disappeared from my macbook pro. how do i get it working again?

airplay icon has disappeared on my macbook pro. how do i find it again?

have tried resetting everything, updating everything, turning bluetooth off and nothing has worked.

apple tv is fine and working perfectly for my other devices. This has only happened since i updated to yosemite for my macbook pro.

any ideas?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

    Hello!

     

    You have a box you can check over at: "Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays"

     

    "show mirroring options in the menu bar when available"

     

    Here's the manual from Apple: About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support

     

    If that's not the solution: try unplugging all your routers/modems/extenders, etc from power for a minuten and plugging them back in. Sometimes routers 'think' you have a new machine after upgrading the OS and erroneously block it from some network communication ports.
