Q: Pops

Recently I have had the problem when making a track in Logic. Logic X makes a popping sound and drops out either taking the left speaker/monitor or right speaker/monitor or both. This problems happens when I use my studio Monitors or the Macs regular speakers, any help will be greatly appreciated.

What do you have the I/O buffer size set to in Logic's Audio preferences?

Try increasing the buffer size and see if that resolves the problem. Example, if you have it set to 64 increase it to 128.....

Note: A higher setting allows the Processor/Computer to work better with more demanding projects....

My I/O buffer size was set at 128, at set it higher to even the highest level 1024 and still having this problem with the pop and drop outs

Then in that case try the following...

    Restart your Mac......

Make sure you don't have any other apps running in the background in case one or more are interfering with the audio...

Did you install or update anything between when you didn't have these problems and now?

It didn't work but it seems like its improving doesnt occur untill certain parts. Also this problem doesnt exist when I got back to older tracks I have done, and it seems this problems happend when I use audio files I drag into logic or from logics loops library

Im sure you mean the AU version (because Logic doesn't use VSTs) but no.. I doubt that's affecting things if it is a legit version.... and you are not using it in your new projects.

Also if it were just that you installed it, it would affect all projects and not just your recent ones.... which is the thing that Im not really understanding at this time if there is nothing new or different you are doing with your new projects compared to your old ones.

What type of tracks are having this issue? Instrument tracks or audio tracks?

What plugins are you using on the tracks that crackle and pop?

Is there anything in common between the tracks or projects that are having this issue? Something that is common to them but not to older projects?

It sounds like it has to be something that is specific to your new projects given it doesn't happen to older projects..... so thats what you should focus on, in tracking down the real cause..

its happening with audio tracks, the only plugins I am using is a pitch plugin and eq, I play the track and get to certain point and it pops taking out one side usually the left monitor then after a couple more seconds it makes the pops sound and takes out the second monitor. When I pause it and start it again from that same point it goes back to normal

    Which pitch plugin?

if you remove that plugin, does it still pop?

    Same with eq.....

Is EQ still in Analyze mode if it's Logic's built in one?

If you mean QuikQuak's Pitchwheel plugin....

Then yes, if you are using the latest version v4.2 and are still getting this issue...stop using that plugin.....  as it seems it is having/causing such issues.
