iMAC install 10.7 to upgrade from 10.6

I downloaded 10.7. But when I try to install it I can not select the hard drive.

The message says (This disk is used for Time Machine backups ).

I turned off time machine and that didn't help.

Can I delete time machine? Or get to the backups and delete them?

iMAC, Model ID iMAC7,1, processor name intel Core 2 Duo, Processor speed 2.8 GHz, Cores 2, L2 Cache 4MB, Memort 2 GB, Storage 500 GB

You must download 10.7 from the App Store.

Odds are if you download from any place else it is an update which requires that Lion already be install for the update or else it is an illegal download crammed with malware.

Click here and follow the instructions. You should also install more RAM in the computer.
