Q: Dead Bluetooth?

I've never used my bluetooth in the 6 years I've had my mac mini. I connected my iPhone once, just for kicks. But now I've bought an aftermarket BT keyboard and my mini can't seem to connect to it or my phone. The keyboard and phone talk to each other just fine, but the mini doesn't talk to them. Is it a software issue? Is my hardware just too old (early2009 model)? Would I need to use a BT "dongle"?

Mac mini (Early 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 750GB Hybrid HD, 8Gb RAM

The iPhone does not have the BT profiles to usefully pair to a computer.

Does you Mac see the BT KB?
Have you unpaired the BT KB from the iPhone?

My Mac does not see the BT keyboard. When trying to connect the phone, I get a message saying "Network is unavailable". I've tried resetting the SMC and PRAM. No luck

I've got some more info. My phone doesn't see my mac either. And in the Network preference panel it says, "Bluetooth PAN is not Connected"

Installed the kinivo btd-300 dongle and it worked like a charm! No software to install, just plug and play. It saw my devices and paired without any hassle. I'm going to assume that my mini's factory bluetooth is either dead or broken.
