How to do a clean OS X re-install, Yosemite

Correct email errors not generated by the user!

Sometimes I have to re-start Yosemite to get the email system to send a normal message.

I am hoping a clean re-install of Yosemite will cure this issue?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), iMac 21.5, 2.9GHZ, I5 quad proc.
