Q: The phone number invited cannot receive shared album invitations

iCloud photo sharing invites sent to a phone number get an error message saying that the phone number invited to the album cannot receive shared album invitations. The phone number is associated to the apple ID. Any suggestions?

    Hi texanusa,

Happy Holidays!  If the phone number can't be used to share an album, try sending the invitation to an email address instead.

Invitations to your shared album can be sent to a person’s email address or a phone number used for iMessage. Learn more about  creating a shared album.  iCloud: Create a shared album

    On an iOS 8 device

    1. In the Photos app, tap Shared at the bottom of the screen, tap Sharing at the top of the screen, then tap New Shared Album.

If you don’t have any shared albums yet, tap Shared at the bottom of the screen, then tap Create New Album.

    2. Enter a name for your shared album, then tap Next.

    3. Invite people to subscribe by entering their email addresses or tapping the Add button  to select from your contacts, then tap Create.

    4. To let people view your shared album on the web, tap the album in the Shared Albums list, tap People, then turn on Public Website. To send the shared album’s web address to friends, tap Share Link.

I hope this information helps ....

Ask the invitee to turn on notifications in photos.

Any other ideas? Both by brother and his wife "cannot receive shared photo invitations" -- her's is definitely set to share in settings. His "failed" to send invite. Both have iPhones with new iOS. Works fine between my wife and I...

Ok I have an answer. Tell the invitee to change their iCloud to use gmail instead of iMessage. Then send them a separate invitation to that email address instead. (no idea why it is broken for other iMessage users on the same network with the same iOS, so this is a hack to resolve the sharing issue and not a solution)
