Roaming Network Express 10Mbps

Hi,

Set up...

Fibre Optic Open Reach Modem ~ Airport Extreme (pppoe) ~ 60 ft cat5e cable ~ Airport Express (bridge mode).

I have a successfully set up a roaming network with the set up above but the Airport Express only has a max download speed of 10Mbps? When connected to the Extreme either wirelessly or wired speeds are around 60-70Mbps which is what is supplied by our isp.

Is the poor speed down to poor cable connections, cable or some settings I have missed?

Thanks.

Another quick troubleshooting "test" that you can run......IF.....your MacBook Pro has an Ethernet port.

Temporarily, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the AirPort Express and connect it instead to your MacBook Pro. Turn off the wireless on the MacBook Pro and run a speed check to see what the connection looks like at that point.

If you see 60-70 Mpbs, then you know that the Ethernet cable is performing correctly. On the other hand, if you only see about 10 Mbps when you run this "test", that tells you that you have a poor connection somewhere in the Ethernet cable and connectors. You will need to do some further checking to identify the issue.

Once you have the 60-70 Mbps speed established through the Ethernet cable, then connect the Express to the Ethernet cable again.
