It seems like the latest versions of Chrome cause any url to a .mov file result in a download rather than playing the content... This is super duper annoying, and makes me not want to use Chrome as my default browser anymore. Does anyone know a way to get quicktime to videos to play within the browser like they did in previous versions?

So then in this post plug-in world how does one play a local .mov in the chrome browser? I'm using a QNAP server and it's native playback method is routing the file to the browser. The file when clicked plays fine in safari, but the same file when clicked in Chrome just turns into a download 😟
The current version of Chrome doesn't support the QuickTime browser plug-in but local playback isn't effected.
The only way to play the file via Chrome is to download it.
Internet browser plug-ins will all be obsolete soon with the introduction of HTML 5.
Chrome is doing this a bit earlier than others but the handwriting is now on the wall.
