Q: Can't connect iPhone to iTunes via Home Sharing

My music collection lives in an iTunes library on a Windows 8 box with Home Sharing enabled.  I can use my Macbook to connect to this library without issue.  I just just got a new iPhone 6 (all updates installed), and cannot get it to connect to the shared library.  The library appears in the Music app, but when I try to connect to it, I get a pinwheel for about 15 seconds before the library appears to load.  At about 25% of the circle, the app usually stalls.  Any ideas?  iTunes is allowed through the Windows firewall, but I've even tried disabling the firewall completely with no better result.  Does iTunes use a different service to stream to iOS devices than it does for Mac devices?  Is there an upper limit to the library size?  My library is about 300 GB.  I also verified that all devices are attached to the same wi-fi network, and iTunes is up to date.   Again, no issues streaming to a Mac, just to my new iPhone.

Thanks,

Patrick
