Install Arial Unicode MS font

I work a lot with Unicode fonts and my fav is "Arial Unicode MS"

it works great on my windows and Mac.

However when it comes to iPhone/iPad I can not get this font to work the rendering is completely messed up.

This font is listed under

Apps can download the following fonts if necessary:

I want to know how can I install this on my iPhone / iPad. I downloaded Anyfont app and that does the installation and when I close the app its gone again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I work a lot with OneNote, and most of my documents are Sanskrit requiring Devanagari script. Arial Unicode MS is one font which is compatible and its text rendering is most beautiful to read. There are other alternatives like Mangal etc but their rendering is pathetic.

For this reason I want to install that on iPad / iPhone.

My OneNote text appears good in the section headers but is totally messed up in the text. I am attaching a screenshot of it. I am not sure if that would make any sense or not.

I tried other alternative EverNote but that does not work for me because at work I have only OneNote. if you can help me fix OneNote rendering issue then that would be a blessing.

I wrote to MS team but did not even get acknowledgment. So I don't have high hopes about it. My thinking is if the correct font is available then many be OneNote would work.

Thanks for your help

This is how correct text should appear

You can see the difference in rendering

Tom,

Yes that's the correct rendering, I tried with Sanskrit 2003 and it worked great as well.

AnyFont did not have any issues installing Sanskrit 2003 and now I can see all my notes correctly on my iPhone and iPad correctly.

I will play with kohinoor as well, I picked Sanskrit 2003, because in the past I extensively used this font to create my documents.

Thanks a lot for your help, no worries about installing Arial Unicode MS font any more 🙂

Normally WIndows Devanagari fonts do not render correctly in OS X or iOS. Have you already tried the standard OS X fonts like Devanagari MT and Devanagari Sangam? Or the new ones in Yosemite (ITF, Kohinoor, Schree)?

Have you tried Sanskrit 2003, which is not an Apple font but which I think many find good for Sanskrit.

I am not familiar with OneNote, but will get a copy and see if I can help further.

Tom,

I really appreciate your help, yes I tried Sanskrit 2003, it works beautifully on Mac and Windows but not one mobile devices (iPad / iPhone)

I have been limping with Mac and Windows and when I complete my notes, I copy paste them to EverNote to take care of text rendering issues, but after doing that a few times you don't know where is your latest version of notes are and can be frustrating if accidentally over write existing notes.

I even downloaded AnyFont app and tried, but that also does not install these fonts. I sent a note to the developer and he himself is perplexed with this behavior.

If you want me to share OneNote file with you please let me know I can put the link here or e-mail it to you.

Hi Tom / uanant!

I would like to edit my Sanskrit 2003 based word documents on my PC, on my iPad as well, using MS word. At first, on my iPad, I got only square boxes in places where Sanskrit 2003 was used in Word (PC). Then I came upon this thread. I downloaded Anyfont and installed Sanskrit 2003 on the iPad (iPad Air 2).

Sanskrit 2003 font appears in Word on iPad under "IOS fonts". However the rendering is very very poor.

Am I getting something wrong here? Can you please help?

I don't think there is anything you can do about this other than to try another app. For problems with Word for iOS, you need to ask in the forums run by the people who make it, MS.
