Dec 22, 2014 2:31 PM in response to allenzby FoxFifth,Not sure what you mean by "connect my iPad to my iMac usingWifi" but one way to transfer files between the two using wi-fi is via AirDrop. The following may help: Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support
There are also a number of other options for transferring files via wi-fi such as iCloud Drive iCloud Drive FAQ - Apple Support and 3rd party options such as Dropbox.

Dec 22, 2014 2:40 PM in response to FoxFifthby allenz,Hi FoxFifth
My original post in another discussion was that every time I connect my iPod to my iMac (Yosemite) iTunes comes up and wants to sync everything in iTunes to my iPad. I don't want that. Actually I maybe only want a few songs (playlists) but don't need them. Right now I only use my iPad for my FEMA class files (PDF) and maps. (I can tether my iPad to my cell phone).
The reply was to use WiFi and iTunes wouldn't sync and fill my iPad with unnecessary files and music.
I don't see AirDrop at all. In the finder on my iMac I do see iCloud and DropBox. I also see iCloud on the iPad but I've never been a cloud or dropbox person.
Maybe I should just drag the few files into iCloud then get them on my iPad then? Hmmmm Wonder why I don't have AirDrop? my iMac is 10.10.1

Dec 22, 2014 2:52 PM in response to FoxFifthby allenz,Now I see why I don't have AirDrop. My iMac is an early 2008 model. It has to be early 2009 or later to have AirDrop.
iCloud won't work with PDF files.
Maybe it's time to get a new iMac. ;-) but the new Macs don't have a DVD drive anymore ugh! I might just be stuck with the USB cable.
