Q: missing password for iPhone backup
Hello,
I was very happy to receive a new iPhone 6 yesterday, that happiness quickly faded away when I couldn't restore my phone from a backup of my old iPhone 5. I backed it up tuesday and specifically unchecked the encrypt box. Then last night, before I turned on my new iPhone i decided to backup my iPhone 5 one more time that way any new sms messages would be transferred over. I plugged the iPhone 5 in and hit backup....no prompt or anything came up. When it finished backing up I noticed that encrypt box was checked....I know I did not check that box!! All other times it had alerted me to create a password for encryption and i would ALWAYS cancel and say NO encryption. So I tried to uncheck it and then...BOOM, "please enter your password". NO idea where that came from.
I went ahead and tried to start my iPhone 6 and can't backup from the last save because of the password....So then I tried looking for last weeks backup which I know for certain did not have a password and it's GONE. I did not delete it, I wouldn't delete it. It give me options to restore from MAY 2014, 2013 backups...all the way to 2010!! but NOT last weeks....Idk why it's gone. Especially since it was the one with no password. All the other backups don't have a password but this one does.
I've tried everything I could possibly think of from numbers, my apple id, old passwords, my admin login, but nothing works. Then I disconnected and reconnected and boom it just started synching on its own. It did all the apps, music, contacts but NO data really....like sms messages. For me that's what's most important, that and notes.
I have no idea what to do....none. I read that some people said restore the old phone, then plug it in and uncheck encrypt and then restore from backup but I'm kinda afraid to do that since my previous backup was eaten!
Please help....
