Printing Avery 5260 Labels

Say I want to print an address label that will show up in the second column, on the 5th label down. I can't figure out how to specify where an address will print on the standard Avery 5260 labels. They default to always printing in the first column and the first row, then the first column second row, etc. Then if there are enough labels they move to the second column and print linearly from the top of the column to the bottom and then finally to the third column, first row through 10th row. That's fine when I'm printing 30 labels. But if I only have printed 14 labels on a sheet, then how can I avoid throwing away the remainder and specifying that the first label to print on the next go-around will be in column 2 on the 5th label down and onward from there? Thanks for any help you can offer to me! PS: I'm using OS X Yosemite (v 10.10.1) with an hp Officejet 6700 Premium AIO printer.

One method is to turn the sheet of labels around so that what was top is now the bottom, so that the bottom labels become the first labels.

If you have a single label, you can specify the row and column you want the label to print.

Your question pertains to Microsoft Word and not Apple, so consider searching and/or asking your question in the Microsoft Community Office for Mac.

I've used the "turn the page around" trick many times. But then when there are still labels remaining in the middle after doing that, I still don't know how to get the labels to print where I want them to be printed when the default print position is always first column, first row.

I don't know why you say my inquiry is a Microsoft Word question. I don't have any Microsoft products installed on my Apple machines at all. I use Pages and of course my names and addresses are all in my iMac Contacts app.

There is no where in my print commands where I can see I have any option to specify the label I want to start printing on. That's the crux of my inquiry. Where are those commands to be found in my Apple system?

Sorry, BobT. I must have still been thinking of a previous query regarding Microsoft products.

So, I guess you are printing labels from within the Contacts app. If there are only a few labels left on the sheet, consider manually moving them to the top of the sheet. To print on a partial sheet of labels, you might consider getting or creating a template to use with Pages, then you can do a mail merge using AppleScript or manually type the data into each cell. The iWork Community has some downloadable free templates created specifically for Pages or check the Avery web site. Also consider search/posing your query in the Pages forum.
