Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know situations where your iPhone doesn’t sync the way you would expect can be frustrating. I know you have tried a lot of great troubleshooting steps to remove all music from your iPhone as well. Another option you may not have tried is manually managing that content to removing it. The attached article has more information on this process.
Manage content manually on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod - Apple Support
If your issue continues, please let me know so I can further assist you. Was the music that is not deleting purchased from iTunes or did it come from a CD. Does it appear to be on iCloud with the iCloud icon next to it? Are these 100 songs in your computer iTunes library on the computer?
Have a great day,
Joe

Dec 24, 2014 10:36 AM in response to joe_7399by heavyD209,Ok I selected to just manually select. Unchecked all other boxes in summary. Applied settings and synced phone. It cleared up some storage and added new songs. On iTunes it says I have 185 songs on phone. But on the actual phone I still have 276 songs. At one point the songs did have the red iCloud sign but during my earlier troubleshooting they have gone away. I've tried swiping right on the unwanted songs but the delete button doesn't show up.... This ordeal is driving me nuts. I did update so I currently have the latest software.
