apple application support not found

I am running Windows 7. Uninstalled itunes in the correct order given. In my uninstal column there was no Apple software update to remove. Reinstalled itunes and get the error: apple application support not found. I read all previous posts and right clicking on itunes exe. does not show the option to extract and install it separately. Very frustrating since I have gone through this process 3 times. Please help!!

I have also encountered this problem. In another post I read about extracting the Itunes.exe and run the apple application support.msi file. I have 2 of these files, one of them is a 64 bit file. I have run both these files, the normal one, goes through without a problem but I still cannot open Itunes. The AppleApplicationSupport64.msi however give me the following message:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'policy.9.0.microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32-policy",v1e18e3b",processorArchitect ure=ämd64"". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRE...

Itunes worked perfectly before I did the upgrade and now I cant even get the older versions to work.
