Q: Downgrade iOS 8 to iOS 6

Hi,

So I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I would ask anyway. I have a iPhone 5 running iOS 8, and I remember getting it on iOS 6. I loved the way that a calendar looked like a real calendar, a contacts book looking like a contacts book. So I really don't like the design of iOS 7/8. Is there any possible way for me to downgrade to iOS 6? Could I go into an Apple Store and ask? I would appreciate any answer, as I feel like the old design was signature Apple, and with the new it is something that everyone else was doing.

PS: I have a MacBook Air 2013 that I upgraded from OS X Yosemite to OS X Mountain Lion, just thought I would let you know as I hate the Yosemite design too.

Since Apple does not support downgrading the iOS I suggest you start a new question that gives a good title to a specific problem. Then in the body of the thread describe the problem in detail, tell us what steps you have tried so far to correct the problem, what happened, and what error messages you received.

Well, Ralph9430,

When i downgrade with the IPSW it just says in iTunes that it can't be restored, haven't tried again in a while so I can't remember the exact error message. Basically, I haven't jailbreaked any of my devices so no saved SHSH blobs either. It is just that if Apple can't make some way of getting the old design back (option in Settings/allow themes or downgrades) then I might as well switch to Android as they do allow it.

On Mac there is the Internet Recovery that allows me to downgrade to the original OS it was on. Why can't they make that for iOS?

You just cannot do it, legally, legitimately.
