Q: family sharing purchases question

How do iTunes gift cards work with family sharing?  I am the "organizer" of our family sharing which consists of my father, my wife and myself.  My dad wants to make his own purchases using iTunes cards that he gets instead of billing the family sharing card.  Is this possible or will it automatically bill my card?

    Hi rlogan814,

If a member of a Family Sharing group has a redeemed gift card or store credit, those should be billed first before anything is billed against the shared organizer's card, as outlined below:

    Making purchases

After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you. Learn more about how iTunes Store purchases are billed.
