Dec 23, 2014 4:22 PM in response to TimeyWimeyTimeLordsby Eustace Mendis,Boot Camp Assistant is provided by Apple and is already on your computer. BC allows you to set aside a portion of your hard drive - a partition - where you can install Windows. That is really all it does.
You will need a copy of Windows to install in the BC partition. When you want to run your Mac as a Windows machince you restart and select the BC partition as the boot drive. When you do that, to all intents and purposes you have a Windows box.

Dec 24, 2014 8:25 AM in response to TimeyWimeyTimeLordsby dalstott,I have used Boot Camp with 3 Mac laptops since 2008 (MacBook Pros (2008 and 2010) and MacBook (2006) mainly for playing Windows games. I have used Mac OS X 10.6 to 10.9 with Windows XP, Vista, and 7. I have had no problems with installation or functioning mainly because I followed the directions explicitly. As you have a retina display MacBook Pro you will only be able to use Windows 8 and Windows 7 (you may need a retail Win 7 DVD). Also since Windows runs natively a anti virus/malware program is necessary.
Get the instructions and read then print them. https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
