My laptop is stuck in Internet recovery mode

This all started when my wifi stopped working. I read somewHere that I could fix it by going into recovery mode and erasing my disk drive. This has caused my latop to not even turn on anymore and go instead to a black screen with a folder and question mark on it. When I try to put it into recovery mode it goes to a white screen with a globe and question mark on it. It won't do anything past that. Can someone please help me recover my laptop.? Thanks.
