Genarts Sapphire plugins installed, don't show up in FCP 4.0.5 - ?

I have just installed the Genarts Sapphire plugins - they should work, I'm told, at least for a 3-weeek trial.

But even though I see them in the plugins folder, they aren't showing up in my effects menu.

Any ideas?

Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7) Intel, FCP 5.0.4

Shouldn't you be running the 5.1 - the universal binary version - with the intel Macs?

I have been using FCP 4.0.5 on my new Macbook for 3 months now, and it seems to work fine.

Is this the problem? I'm still not sure I understand.

are you running v 4 or v 5 of FCP? you have posted both ways.

In any case, unless you are running 5.1, the computer is running the software through Rosetta, the processor emulation program, and there may be issues with the plugins.

Why don't you contact the vendor directly?

sorry, FCP v. 5.0.4.

i will contact them, but i thought i would try here first to see if maybe it was something completely obvious to someone out there.

If anyone else has the definitive answer, feel free to chime in.

The thing is, I just don't have a lot of extra money right now to spend upgrading FCP if i don't really need to.

This Intel chip business is a lot more of an issue than I was led to believe.

I have posted the obvious thing - you are running software not designed for the computer's processor. The only way it runs is through emulation. Perhaps their plugins do not run on intel boxes? I'm not familiar with them.

Contacting the vendor is always a good policy in troubleshooting issues.

p.s. perhaps I have been around the computing world for much longer but shifting processors is always a huge issue.

Learn NEVER to trust the marketing department of any company. Their job is to sell you stuff - not to stand by you when it doesn't quite work out or to address your misconceptions.

Thanks for your help, I think this definitely points me in the right direction.

Yeah, I'm not all that familiar with switching processors and emulators and stuff like that. I just like to be able to run my computer without having to worry about configuring a bunch of ****.

In fact, that is why I like Mac's.

And now I have an Intel processor, so I'll bet that after I get a bunch of **** configured properly, it'll work out
