Q: Can I put an event on iCloud?
I recently bought an MacBook Pro that I really don't want to waist TOO much space on, and I also have a camera that I recently got from a relative. I took some pictures, and I was wondering if I can out an event on iCloud from iPhoto without waisting space, because my iPhone backs up to iCloud, and I have like 1 GB or less. Thanks for your time
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Wait, till the photos have uploaded to the Shared Stream and you are seeing them on all your devices. Make at least one backup copy of the photos and keep it safe.
Only then you can delete the originals from the events in your iPhoto Library - but not from the iCloud section and the Shared Stream.
But the backup copy is essential. network problems can make it necessary to reset the shared streams. They are not really meant to be a permanent storage. If you want to use iCloud as the main storage, take precautions for the rare moments when network problem will make the iCloud inaccessible, or transmission errors corrupt data.
I just looked at my shared streams in Aperture, and right now they are showing all missing originals, like this: (half an hour ago all was fine)
And corrupted thumbnails:
