MacBook working worse and worse

Hi, all,

I have a MacBook Pro which I bought in November 2013 with the following parameters:

- 13-inch, Mid 2012)

- processor 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5

- graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

- memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

It worked fine for the first couple of months then it became slower and slower, half a year ago it also began to occasionally restart at will. Today it did so with a message "Your computer restarted because of a problem". (In fact, after installing Yosemite several days ago it all aggravated.)

It was pretty much the same with an older version of MacBook Pro (that of white plastic which heated to such an extent that the plastic was damaged). Its state deteriorated in the same way until it turned off forever. In fact, I purchased a new one because of that!

I do not do anything special - every day I only keep 3-5 Safari tabs open (Gmail, some online radio, LinkedIn, occasionally other pages as needed), Vodafone modem for internet connection, a couple of Open Office windows, iTunes (when online radio is off) and Dictionary.

I would really much appreciate any help. What can I have a look at to understand the issue, what can I do to solve the issue?

Thank you for your prompt reply. They were able to retrieve the data from the old MAC in some service centre and save it on an external HD. I transferred it then to the new one via USB (mostly Open Office documents, some music and photos).

This may be the case. But anyway, whether they were migrated or arose independently, I am now absolutely unclear what these issues are and how to find out more. In that service centre they only told the motherboard was damaged and that is all.

That suggests that your MBP had a kernel panic:

. Check here and post it:

Perhaps it will disclose the problem your having with yout MBP.

Hello again!

Ogelthorpe is correct. It is most likely kernel panics that are causing the crashes. Kernel panics are most often caused by kernel exentions (sort of drivers) and you seem to have a whole bunch of non-original ones:

You can tell from their names what applications they associate with. I recommend making Time Machine back-ups as soon as possible and then uninstall any of the above applications that you don't need anymore.

Dec 25, 2014 6:13 AM in response to CellarDwellr

I believe so. Now it is clear.

Issue 1: I am quite surprised by that list - for example, I never used Blackberry. In fact, the only known item to me is Vodafone - it is my internet modem.

How can I find out 1) what applications are behind them or 2) try to get rid of all except that Vodafone I need without finding out or 3) re-setup the whole MAC so that they are deleted leaving only the documents I need (enough to leave job-related Open Office, pdf, mp3, jpg files)?

Issue 2: I did try to set up Time Machine but it required Other AirPort Time Capsule from me. I clicked on it, chose "Set Up..." - and it just says no configured stations have been found and continues searching. How can I fix this?

Dec 25, 2014 6:48 AM in response to Flossy Glamourous

To delete third party applications, go to the developers web site and find out the un-installation instructions. Often it involves dragging the application to trash however in some cases they will be a un-installer which you have to use.

You can do an erase and reinstall of the OSX and the data you want. Which may be simpler is for you to decide.

Regarding Time Machine and Time Capsule, these two links may serve your needs:

If those third party applications are responsible for slow operation and the kernel panics. That has not been established with certainty.

2. Is there any other reason my MAC may crash forever like its predecessor? What else should I check?

Examine the link regarding kernel panics that I posted earlier and this one as well:

Kernel panics can be the result of both hardware and software issues.
