UNABLE TO MAKE CALLS ON NEW IPHONE 6

Just got the new iPhone 6 for Christmas and can't make any calls or text on it. Im able to connect to the web with wifi but phone feature just doesn't work. Very disappointed, now my old phone 5 doesn't work since i transferred everything to the new phone and I'm without a phone for the next couple of days until Genius Bar appointment. Unreliable and Unbelievable this could happen with apple product. I think their quality control has gone down now that they have grown so big.
