Dec 27, 2014 1:19 AM in response to nicasio tomby Ethmoid,Squarespace is totally different to iWeb - whereas with iWeb you could create your website and then upload it to your server, with Squarespace, you would need to go online to the Squarespace site and then create your website online. Once you have done that you would publish it and you would have a name that was your name.squarespace.com or something similar and it would cost you extra if you wanted to register a domain name. However, remember that you could not publish any other site to Squarespace. If you wanted to take the domain name elsewhere, then you would have to move from Squarespace to another hosting company.
I would not really think of Squarespace as an alternative to iWeb - it is all done online on the Squarespace servers and they are not web hosts either, so if you decide you want to do something different, then you'll need to move hosts and move your domain name.
If you want a solution like that, why not take a look at the Content Management Systems (CMS's) as an alternative such as Drupal, Joomla or WordPress - these can be loaded directly onto mosts hosts with one click and might be better to use than Squarespace.
Take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, EverWeb, Freeway Pro/Express 7, Flux V and WebAcappella 4.
EverWeb might be a better way to go and it is as easy to use as iWeb.
