Group messaging as SMS only

I try to send group SMS and my iphone 6 converts it into an MMS. Problem with this is that if my recipients do not have MMS set up they dont get a simple text. Also a simple text should be sent as a text only and not an MMS. I want to be able to send group messages as SMS only, not MMS. If I turn MMS off from settings, SMS are not sent at all. This is a very basic issue and it should not exist. Also I searched online and there was something about group messages setting. I have latest IOS but it does not show any such option. This is seriously frustrating.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2

Send a group message with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

MMS and SMS is a carrier feature, maybe voice your frustration and annoyance to them.

Dear Razmee,

My carrier offers both MMS and SMS. SMS is part of the basic package but for MMS edge is required. The issue is that not all recipients have edge enabled and also there are places in my country where there are no edge signals but sms can still be sent. I used to have an android and it allowed sending group SMS.

Then this isn't an Apple or iphone issue, but an issue with your recipients not having edge enabled, which in turn is a carrier feature.
