Convert to Gif

Hi, I have had some success converting a simple MOV to Gif with Gifrocket but it seems to choke on a video of a poweroint presentation. A web search finds lots of converters but to be honest, they all look a bit dubious and insubstantial. Does anybody here know of a reliable converter? My file is 10.8MB and 640 x 480.
