Dec 26, 2014 10:48 PM in response to Matt13by ckuan,Flash is like swiss cheese, lots of holes and many serious security issues. That's why you need to update to protect your Mac systems.
Anyway, Flash is not an Apple product, tell Adobe about it.

Dec 26, 2014 10:59 PM in response to ckuanby Matt13,Thanks CKUAN for the obvious answer. But people like you who are only on these forums to apparently gain points in some make-believe world you live in, only to take a jab at non-apple problems, are laughable. At the end of the day, you're telling me to 'take a hike' and take my problems elsewhere. If you don't have anything constructive to say, I suggest stepping away from your keyboard and keeping your ill-witted jabs to yourself and your nerdy friends at the comic book shop.
This is a discussion forum. If you can't get your point across without being condescending, maybe you shouldn't even be here. Your types and the Apple "I'm better than you" attitude is annoying and insulting.
I can't, you can't and Apple can't control which websites decide to use Flash. But I use the Apple platform. If I ask Adobe, they'll tell me to get a PC.
Should I listen to their advice?
I want a real answer here. Honestly, if there's a way to turn off Flash completely, I'd be fine with that.
I just want some real input here and not some smarty pants Apple lover giving me the 'holier than thou' treatment whenever I come onto these discussion forums.
UGH. SO ANNOYING.
If Apple were smart, they'd have the option to give someone a NEGATIVE point for dumb condescending remarks that give this place a bad rap in the first place.

Dec 26, 2014 11:09 PM in response to Matt13by K Shaffer,A few weeks ago there was this notice:
•Adobe Flash Player updates available for OS X on December 12, 2014 - Apple Support
If you have more than one browser, you may have to be sure (if needed) to install Flash
from Adobe for them, if the one you download is not supported.
•Flash Player Help - Adobe Flash Player:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
•Installation Problems - Adobe Flash Player - Mac:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.ht ml
You may have to uninstall an older version of Flash before installing a new one. They
have been known to not uninstall previous versions, and by uninstalling, you remove
ones that no longer have a reason to be in the computer. Unless for some reason you
may need to use an older version (which may be considered not secure.) The uninstall
product is included with the Adobe Flash player installer packet.
Here's an idea from Adobe forums, that may work... Note post: #13 by precise1
•Can't install Flash Player on Mac OS X 10.10.1 - Adobe community - 25 Dec 2014:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1663477
Hopefully you can make get the product to install without much further effort.
PS: while I was double-checking this, there had been only the first question above.
If the efforts including mine are not adequate, I'm sorry. My Macs do not use Flash.
And my new server may not, if I decide to open the box; or I may send it back.
You asked for any input.
Good luck & happy computing!

Dec 26, 2014 11:11 PM in response to K Shafferby Matt13,Thanks K Shaffer...
That's a much more productive and reasonable post. I appreciate your time to respond. I'll give some of that advice a shot and report back at some point in the near future.
To be honest though, this has been a problem for months, going back to the summer. It's seems like every time I power-up one of my mac's, I have to re-install flash. I've read other info elsewhere that Adobe is including hidden installations or malware that causes unwanted ads and all sorts of other stuff. It's really alarming. I'd almost prefer to block Flash and anything Adobe completely from my computers. It seems really shady.
And don't get me wrong, it installs no problem. It's just the frequency of installs that's alarming. The 'out of date' message is increasing annoying and alarming.
Thanks again for your input.

Dec 26, 2014 11:34 PM in response to Matt13by K Shaffer,Yes, the issue seems to have an impossible mission of it's own
and that appears to be to maintain a level of something; misery? There should be a better direction to take, however there are no
automatic updates in OS X for Adobe Flash. Too bad more sites
don't use an alternative to Flash, such as HTML5, or had more
been quick to adopt aspects of QuickTime animation years ago
then there may have been a major difference by today.
A huge pile of great innovation and technologies had been created
and brought together by the creative geniuses at Apple Computer.
Too bad so many wheels had to be reinvented, as well...
