Q: Why does my iPhone 6 shut off when I charge it overnight?

I just got my iPhone 6 and now for the second night in a row when I leave my iPhone on the charger overnight as soon as it gets to 99% or 100% it shuts down and I have to hold the home and power button down to start it again in the morning. What's going on here?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2

I understand that your iPhone powers off when charging overnight. Here is an article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.

If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it
