Dec 28, 2014 11:59 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby anangisye,Your answer has been helpful.
I have read your first link. My alarm is a three successive tone followed by a five second pause (repeating) indicating RAM does not pass data integrity check.
My machine has recovered spontaneously after at least 72 hours. The first time this problem occurred was a month ago and it took a few hours to recover. I am worried that the problem may recur and the machine may not ever recover.
What should i do to solve the root cause?

Dec 28, 2014 12:07 PM in response to anangisyeby OGELTHORPE,I suggest that you take out the RAM modules and clean the contacts. Install them and make certain that they are properly seated.
The Apple Hardware Test does do a RAM check (among other hardware items) and you may run that:
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201257
The problem is that an error free AHT is not definitive.
For a more thorough test, you can run Rember from Kelley computing:
http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember/
This should be run overnight so that sufficient loops are executed.
The 'good news' is that a failed RAM module will not destroy your MBP. It simply will have to be replaced.
Ciao.
