Q: Unable to update Pages

Hi,

I'm trying to update Pages as prompted by the App store but keep receiving the message: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

It's a new macbook so I've not knowingly refunded or cancelled it and am entering the only apple ID I have. Either way I can't find a way to update or delete the message. Does anybody have any ideas please?

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

    Hey there gmcd17,

There can be a couple of different causes for you to get this error when trying to update an iWork app from the Mac App Store. The fastest way to resolve this may be to verify you have Pages in your purchases:

Mac App Store: Finding your purchased apps

Apps purchased via the Mac App Store

When purchased via the Mac App Store, apps are installed in the Applications folder. Icons for purchased apps are automatically placed in the current user's Dock. There is also a purchases tab in the Mac App Store where you can see all of your Mac App Store downloads.

Then delete the application and re download it from the Mac App Store:

OS X Yosemite: Install, update, and uninstall apps

Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    All the very best,
