Q: why is there a latency delay when using air play?

I have just setup and updated my 3rd generation apple tv unit but playback from iTunes or watching videos over airplay has a latency delay causing on/off blasts of sound. Why is this?

Also there is a big latency delay when using the track pad or typing on the transmitted display, why is this??

Is there some settings I need to change???

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, there is a problem with performance when using AirPlay. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
